Death of a Legend: Ray Bradbury Passes Away
Today we mourn the loss of one of the greatest authors to ever grace the page. Legendary science fiction master Ray Bradbury passed away this morning in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 91. He is survived by his grandson, who was kind enough to give io9 a statement:
“His legacy lives on in his monumental body of books, film, television and theater, but more importantly, in the minds and hearts of anyone who read him, because to read him was to know him. He was the biggest kid I know.”
Ray Bradbury’s library is dense and magical, full of such classics as Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and The Illustrated Man. His masterful forays into horror and science fiction have created a reverence for his words since the early 1950’s.
He will live on, of course, not only in the hearts and minds of his fans, but in generations to come. Rest in peace, Mr. Bradbury. You will not soon be forgotten.
